On the face of it you would think an Italian international from serie a would be a great signing. But who was the last successful striker signing a premier league team made from serie a? Crespo? Schevchenko? Even the really big names have struggled (ok schevchenko was an absurd Chelsea signing two years past his best)
Maybe it's time we actually developed a scouting network that looks for the type of players we need? Even our 'lets sign a big name striker' search in the summer reeked of amateur hour as baaca, lacazette and batshit are all totally different players

I’m shocked he has another club and another big salary lined up, have they not watched him play recently?
All this bollocks about not adjusting the “English” game, FMOB? Football is fucking football, he is SHIT, may have been decent a few seasons ago but no more.

Strange player. Watching him off the ball (so that's for about 90 minutes) he seemed to track defenders and actually move towards them rather than try and make space for himself.
Never seen a player do that before. You'd think he'd have a little word with himself and say 'that's not going to work in England'.
He was about as much use as Ann Frank's drum-kit.

From my limited viewing of young Toni Martinez(once at Rush Green, and once at Dagenham) I am pretty confident the young Spaniard is more suited to English football.

I was in Milan in December in a Mussolini obsessed fascists restaurant and a big Juve supporter said he can't understand why he was so shit as he was good in Italy.

He was excellent in serie a.
That style of football with time on the ball is a million miles from the pace of the premiership though.

To be fair, you would have expected an Italian international forward to have been half decent. Sadly he wasn't!

I guess the only upside is that we did the loan thing BEFORE buying him.

No one bar the 50,000 odd that saw him play for Juve against us
I watched him play for Italy against the ROI in the Euros and he played just like he did for us. Can't say we weren't warned

Just another poor signing. Smart enough to only get him on loan. Won't be remembered. Two terrible transfer windws.
